Mammadov creates new, imaginary and speculative rugs using social sciences, data dyeing techniques, yarn simulation and color data. Mammadov presents this as an "experiment in cultural memory.” Utilizing StyleGan, a generative adversarial network, Mammadov draws from an archive of over 150,000 images of carpets, rugs, and kilims.
